Strengths-based Coaching

What are Character Strengths?

We all have them. They’re an important part of who we are and what we do, but do you know your strengths? How many strengths are there? If you were asked to list your top five strengths, could you? How do you find out? Do you know how to apply them?

Through our association with the creators of PositivePsychology.com, we’re able to provide you with a comprehensive set of tools and activities to help you identify your core strengths. Some scientifically-based options are:

  • Clifton Strengths

  • VIA Character Strengths Survey

  • DiSC Classic Profile 2.0

Note: We do not receive any compensation or commission for referring you to these surveys; however, as coaches and mentors, we have taken these surveys ourselves to better understand our strengths and how we might align those to the synergy you need in a coach.

Clifton Strengths

Clifton Strengths is a questionnaire that identifies and assesses five key strengths out of a list of 34. It is based on 177 paired questions, but unlike the VIA Character Strengths Survey, there is a nominal cost for a detailed report.

VIA Character Strengths Survey

The VIA Survey is the only free, scientific survey of character strengths in the world. Take this simple, 15-minute character test and discover your greatest strengths. Research shows that knowing and using your character strengths can help you:

  • Increase happiness and well-being

  • Find meaning and purpose

  • Boost relationships

  • Manage stress and health

  • Accomplish goals

DiSC Classic Profile 2.0

The DISC profile test is a self-assessment that analyses a person's behaviour and how they prefer to interact with others. DISC assessments are based on the behavioural theories of Carl G Jung and William Moulton Marston. The test represents the four behavioural elements of:

  • Dominance

  • Influence

  • Steadiness

  • Conscientiousness

  • Your strengths are what make you unique. Did you know that the likelihood of you having a “strengths twin”, i.e., someone with exactly the same strengths in the same sequence as you, is approximately 1 in 33m?

CliftonStrengths are divided into four themes, vis,

    1. EXECUTING

    2. INFLUENCING

    3. RELATIONSHIP BUILDING

    4. STRATEGIC THINKING

See how the strengths align to each of these themes here.

  • Via character strengths are divided into four groups.

    1. Relational

    2. Heart

    3. Inward

    4. Head

You can see a more detailed example here.

  • The DiSC profile consists of 28 questions, with each question containing four items against which you respond with “Not at all like me” through to “Very much like me”.
