How AI will impact Coaching!

There’s a lot of noise and interest surrounding AI and the impact it will have on many things relating to both our personal and professional lives.

With the rise of ChatGPT and other AI models, questions are being raised within the coaching community about AI’s potential impact on both coaches and their clients. We decided to “get with the program” and see what it was all about. Our caveat is that we do not and will not use generative AI tools like ChatGPT during coaching sessions to either curate a list of questions or offer answers to our clients.

What we’ve found is, in our opinion, a useful capability for quickly filtering information which may prove useful to our clients as reference material. For example, we’ve used ChatGPT to collate information on Strengths-based Coaching, Self-Determination, Client Chronophobia (Fear of the Future), and Imposter Syndrome. While this information is readily available in published books and articles online, generative AI provides a clear context, allowing you to progressively build and refine the questions you pose.

We’ve used ChatGPT to generate information about the following topics as an entry point in determining its usefulness. We’ve documented the questions we asked ChatGPT, its response, and how we expanded on those questions. Each of the following documents is only a few pages, and you may uncover useful information that you can use yourselves.

After reading or reviewing these documents, you might disagree with what we’ve learnt about how AI will positively impact coaching. If so, we’d love to have a free and open discussion about your views.
